Inspection of the Great Galana Kulala project

Inspected progress on the Galana Kulalu Electrification Project, a game-changer set to power the Galana Irrigation Scheme and surrounding communities.

The works include the Weru 220/66kV Substation, a 66kV line to Galana Kulalu and a 66/33kV step-down Substation, with poles already erected.

With completion projected for July 2026, once operational, the project will shift the current 1,500 acres irrigated using expensive diesel generators to 20,000 acres in the next four years, cutting production costs, boosting food security, and spurring local economic growth.

Reliable electricity will also benefit homes, businesses and industries, supporting sustainable agriculture and community empowerment in the region.
