Progress on implementation of the last mile projects

Chaired by CS Hon. Opiyo Wandayi, I joined senior officials from the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), contractors and technical of the LMCP Funded by AFD/EU/EIB for a meeting to assess the progress of implementation of the Last Mile Connectivity Project (LMCP) across the country.

The session served as a strategic platform to review achievements against set milestones and candidly address any constraints affecting project delivery.

Discussions covered technical execution, financial performance, resource mobilization and coordination mechanisms to ensure smooth delivery.

A highlight of the meeting was the introduction of a revised monitoring and reporting framework, designed to provide real-time visibility of progress strengthen accountability and improve decision-making.

Through constructive dialogue, participants agreed on a collective action plan to fast-track delivery, maintain quality standards and ensure that thousands of households, especially in rural and underserved areas, are connected to the national grid within the set timelines.
