Presided over by CS Hon. Opiyo Wandayi, we joined leaders, development partners and stakeholders for the handing over of pick-ups and tuk-tuks to last-mile entrepreneurs under the GCF Climate-Friendly Cooking Project.
The initiative, supported by GIZ, has significantly advanced Kenya’s clean cooking agenda, mainstreaming it in national and county energy policies, training over 500 entrepreneurs, expanding business-class stove producers from 2 to 22, equipping workshops, establishing testing labs and unlocking over KES 200 million in credit.
Additionally, through the program, awareness of improved cookstoves has risen from 31% in 2019 to 78% in 2025, demonstrating the project’s transformative impact on livelihoods, health and the environment.
Present were the German Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Sebastian Groth, a delegation from Giz led by Boddo Immik among other distinguished guests.
