ALLIGNING ON THE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

Following Kenya’s active participation in the launch of the G7’s “Energy for Growth in Africa” initiative held in Italy in April last year, I held a meeting with a delegation from the Embassy of Italy and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), led by Lorenza Gambacorta – Deputy Ambassador Embassy of Italy and Madelena Monoja – UNDP Country Representative, to review progress and chart a path for implementation.

Our discussions focused on aligning this strategic partnership with Kenya’s Energy Transition and Investment Plan 2023–2050, which outlines our roadmap for a just, inclusive and sustainable energy future.

We explored targeted interventions to strengthen energy infrastructure development, particularly in renewable energy, to power economic growth and ensure universal access.

This collaboration is a critical pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), as affordable, reliable and clean energy is key to unlocking opportunities across sectors, spurring industrialization and uplifting communities at the grassroots
