Alongside CS Opiyo Wandayi, we engaged with the Departmental Committee on Energy, chaired by Hon. David Gikaria (Nakuru Town East Constituency) to deliberate on the committee’s report regarding the reduction of electricity costs in the country.

A critical focus of our discussion was the parliamentary moratorium that has stalled the signing of new power purchase agreements. Lifting this moratorium is essential to unlocking investments in the energy sector, expanding generation capacity and ultimately ensuring more affordable and sustainable electricity for all Kenyans.

The session brought together key stakeholders from Kenya Power, the Geothermal Development Company (GDC), KenGen and the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) to provide insights and sectoral responses.
