As Kenya’s population and industrial demand continue to grow, there is an urgent need to diversify and stabilize our energy mix. While we remain committed to renewable sources such as geothermal, wind, solar and hydro, nuclear power presents a viable and dependable baseload option to complement these efforts.

Siaya County has emerged as a potential site for the establishment of Kenya’s first nuclear power plant, an infrastructure of national importance that could significantly boost our energy security.

We emphasized that the region stands to benefit directly from this strategic investment through job creation, infrastructure development, technology transfer and targeted capacity building in science and innovation.

Present were Senator Oburu Odinga (Chair, Senate Energy Committee), a host of MPs, MCAs, regional leaders and members of the local community.
