Through Rural Electrification & Renewable Energy Corporation – Kenya (REREC), we have commissioned Kenya’s two largest solar minigrids in Wasini/Mkwiro (Kwale) and Mageta (Siaya), alongside five others in Ngodhe and Takawiri (Homa Bay), Kerio and Kaeris (Turkana), and Dabel (Marsabit).
These projects, part of the Kenya Modernization Project, have connected 4,000 households and powered critical public facilities.
With reliable electricity, fishermen now operate cold-storage facilities, boosting their trade while urbanization is taking root in these once-remote areas. We remain committed to lighting up off-grid communities and driving economic transformation.
